KATHMANDU: Bikash Sherchan top-scored with 28 points but could not save Galaxy going down 91-61 to BBC in the semi-final of the BINS Basketball Tournament for SLC-appeared students, which has been organised by Bishal Milan Kendra in association with NCCS. Ashik Gurung netted 26 points and man of the match Pujan Shrestha netted 22 points for BBC. In the other semi-final, TIA beat Playaz 58-53 with man of the match Gobin Dura scoring 25 points. — HNS
Balpremi in quarters
KATHMANDU: Ishwor Raj Joshi scored two goals as Balpremi Yuva Khel Mandal advanced to the quarter-finals from Group B beating Naxal Bhagwati Sports Club 2-0 at the ‘C’ Division League Selection Football Tournament. In the other match, Young Mobilisation Centre beat Gurjudhara Sports Club 3-0, in which Nabin Basnet netted twice and Pankaj Lamichhane scored one. — HNS
Charlton sign Bent
LONDON: Charlton signed Ipswich Town striker Darren Bent with chairman Richard Murry claiming it could be the first of many arrivals at The Va-lley. Bent signed a four-year contract worth three million pounds. He sco-red 19 goals as Ipswich finished third in the Championship last season. — AFP
