Referees return

KATHMANDU: International referee duo Saroj Bhattarai and Amir Rai returned home today after attending the Technical and Referee Seminar at the first South Asian Shito Ryu Karate Championship held in Bangalore. The seminar was conducted by Kon Kasis, president of the Asia-Pacific Shito Ryu Karate Federation and member of the World Karate Federation Referee Council. Bhattarai and Rai were nominated to represent Nepal Shito Ryu Karate Association, under Nepal Karate Federation, in the seminar, said Thaneshwor Rai, NKF president. — HNS

NSJF condemns attack

KATHMANDU: Nepal Sports Journalists Forum (NSJF) has condemned the attack on Kamal Khanal, a sports journalist working with Image Metro Television. Khanal was looted around 10:45pm in Bijeshwori area of Swayambhu by an unknown group on May 31. The group looted Rs 2,500 along with his wrist watch and sun glasses after threatening him by showing Khukuri. The NSJF in a release has appealed to take immediate actions against the group involved in such unruly acts. — HNS
