Nepali team win

KATHMANDU: The Nepali Under-14 team defeated Jharkhand 4-0 in their third match of the Subroto Mukherjee Cup Football Tournament, organised by Indian Air Fiorce, in New Delhi on Friday. Rishi Thapa and Anil Gurung scored two goals each for the Nepali team, which will play against West Bengal on Saturday. This is Nepali team’s third win in a row.

They defeated Assam 3-2 on Wednesday and hammered Delhi 7-0

Mali finish third

JIRI: Mali VDC defeated Singati VDC 25-20, 18-25, 25-21, 25-17 to finish third at the Hemanta Memorial Cup Open Volleyball Tournament here at the Jiri Technical Academy on Friday. Mali VDC bagged Rs 10,000, while Singati received Rs 5,000. Defending Champions Ramechhap Youth Group and Shyama VDC will contest in Saturday’s final. — HNS

Operation triumph

LALITPUR: The Operation Department defeated Engineering Department 1-0 in the final of the Inter-department Cup football tournament, organised by Buddha Air to mark its 12th Anniversary, here at the ANFA Technical Centre in Chyasal. Siddhartha Bahadur Singh scored the solitary goal in the second half and also became the highest scorer with seven goals under his belt. Chhappan Lal Rajbanshi was named the best player of the four-team tournament. The operation department had won 5-3 in their league round match. — HNS
