SEB beat Deep Jyoti

KATHMANDU: Hosts Samakhushi English Boarding (SEB) School and Anal Jyoti won their respective girls’ section matches at the fourth SEB Inter-school Running Shield Volleyball Tournament on Thursday. SEB edged past Deep Jyoti 25-17, 23-25, 25-17 while Anal Jyoti beat Bright Future 25-15, 25-12. In another match, Saptagandaki defeated Puspa Kunja 27-25, 25-18. Winners in the boys’ section include Deep Jyoti ‘A’ and Deep Jyoti ‘B’, Venus, Ever Young and Anal Jyoti. Deep Jyoti ‘A’ overcame New Diamond 24-26, 25-16, 25-16 while Deep Jyoti ‘B’ beat Ever Young 25-11, 25-22. Ever Young, however, laboured to a 13-25, 25-19, 28-26 victory over SEB ‘C’ in another match. Venus defeated SEB ‘B’ 25-11, 25-1- and Anal Jyoti also beat the same opponent 25-8, 25-14. — HNS

Air Tuskers in final

MEGHAULI: Air Tuskers and Pukka Chukkas have set a championship clash here at the International Elephant Polo Tournament on Thursday. In the first semi-final match, Air Tuskers edged out Chitwan National Park 6-4. Chivas Regal sneaked to a 6-5 narrow victory over Pukka Chukkas in another semi-final match. Sampras win

LONDON: The seven-time Wimbledon champion Pete Sampras played tennis in England on Wednesday for the first time since 2002, beating John McEnroe 6-3, 6-4 in a seniors’ match. “To be retired six years and still play in front of good crowds is an honor,” said Sampras. Sampras served 19 aces, including three in the final game. — AP
