Baluwatar, GCA in final
KATHMANDU: Greenland Children Academy (GCA) and Baluwatar Cricket Club made it to the final of the Wai Wai Women’s Regional Twenty20 League Cricket on Thursday. GCA overcame Gyan Kunja by 74 runs and Baluwatar defeated Rajan Memorial School by 34 runs. Neema Tamang made not out 45 as GCA scored 129-1 before restricting Gyankunja for 55 runs in 19.5 overs. In the second match, Baluwatar scored 112-6 before restricting Rajan Memorial for 78-7 in 20 overs. — HNS
Wilson enter semi-finals
KATHMANDU: Wilson Academy, KISC and Unique entered the semi-finals of the eighth Wilson Hoops Basketball Tournament. Wilson beat Gyan Niketan 75-48, KISC edged out Baba 69-45 and Unique overcame Gyanodaya 61-53. Whitefield and Young Hearts entered the junior boys’ semi-finals. Whitefield claimed a 28-27 win over Arunodaya while Young Hearts beat Greenfield 24-16. Kantipur made it to the semi-finals with a 38-19 win over Malpi in the girls’ section. Lincoln ousted Wilson 68-56 in staff’s semi-final match. — HNS
Rai makes it 3 in a row
KATHMANDU: Deep Raj Rai claimed the third consecutive victory in the Everest Marathon today. Rai finished the race in 3:53:14, ahead of Furuwa Tamang (3:58:14). Furi Sherpa came third. Aang Furi Sherpa won the women’s race at 5:33:10. Ngima Chamgi Sherpa (5:33:11) and Nima Furi Sherpa (5:33:12) came second and third respectively. — HNS
