KATHMANDU: Nisha Lama, Kushal Lama, Hira Maya Dong and Parbati Lama stormed into the women’s above-50kg semi-finals on the opening day of the 14th Men’s and seventh Women’s National Full-contact Karate on Saturday. Birendra Oli, Raju Maharjan, Uddhav Bahadur Thapa, Bidur Aryal, Gyan Bahadur Tamang, Ram Lama, Indra Tamang and Dipak Maharjan entered the quarter-finals in the men’s open-weight category. — HNS

Casino Tara defend title

LALITPUR: Casino Tara defended the second Tara Running Shield Inter-casino Football Tournament here at the ANFA Technical Centre in Chyasal grounds on Saturday. Casino Tara beat last year’s finalist Casino Anna 2-0 in final. Ravi Khadka and Krishna Khadka scored for the winners. The winners got Rs 50,000 and the runners up Rs 30,000. Third-placed Casino Royal received Rs 20,000. Krishna Khadka was declared the man-of-the-tournament and got Rs 5,000. — HNS

KATHMANDU: The second LACM Inter-college Football Tournament is scheduled here on March 23-31. In all five colleges are participating in the event. The participating colleges are Ace college, CCRC, Kathmandu University, KCM and hosts LACM. LACM will take on KCM in the opener. — HNS
