Prime, K&K enter final

KATHMANDU: Prime College and K&K College entered the final of the second Benoj Memorial Inter-College (+2) Basketball Tournament here on Sunday. In the first semi-final, Prime outplayed Campion 87-54. Prime dominated the first three quarters to take a 67-31 lead. Campion tried to stage a comeback in the final quarter, but the damage was already done. Campion scored 23 and Prime netted 20. Sadish Pradhan top-scored in the match with 22 points for Prime, while Mingma Sherpa netted 11 for Campion. In the other semi-final, K&K defeated KEC 72-57 with Rajiv Shakya scoring 23 for the winners and Naresh Balayar scoring 14 for KEC. K&K took a 15-7 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. They extended their lead to 19 points in the second, while KEC reduced the deficit to 12 points in the third quarter. The final quarter belonged to K&K, who scored 17 restricting KEC to 12 points. — HNS

Inter-casino football

KATHMANDU: Casino Tara Management and All Nepal Hotel and Restaurant Workers’ Union are jointly organising the Casino Tara Running Cup second Inter-casino Football Tournament at FIFA Technical Centre in Chyasal from Tuesday. A total of eight teams are taking part in the event, said the organisers at a press meet. Defending champions Casino Tara, Casino Rad, Casino Shangri-La and Nepal Recreation Centre are in Group A, while Casino Anna, Casino Nepal, Casino Royal and Casino Everest are in Group B. The top two teams will advance to the final after the league. The top three winners will receive Rs 50,000, Rs 30,000 and Rs 20,000. Player of the tournament will also get Rs 5,000. — HNS
