Wilson Hoops 2009:

KATHMANDU: Nitin Memorial School (NIMS) won both the senior boys and girls’ section matches here at the Wilson Hoops 2009 ninth Inter-school Basketball Tournament on Tuesday. In the senior boys’ match, NIMS overwhelmed Arunodaya 68-37 while their girls’ team saw off Sri Diwa 22-6. In another girls’ match, Kantipur beat Arunodaya 37-16. Likewise, HIMS thrashed Galaxy 51-28, Triyog beat Kathmandu English School and Unique hammered Araniko 62-34 in other senior boys’ matches. South Point edged past Mahamanjushree 17-15 in the junior boys’ section match.


Sambotta advance

KATHMANDU: Sambotta and Daffodil advanced to the junior boys’ section semi-finals of the first Young Hearts Inter-school Basketball Tournament on Tuesday. Sambotta beat South Point 30-22 and will meet Sri Diwa next. Daffodil saw off Unique 24-22 and will play hosts Young Hearts for a place in the final. In the girls section, Daffodil beat Elite Co-Ed 16-2 to enter the semi-finals. — HNS
