KATHMANDU: Kathmandu registered a comprehensive eight-wicket win over Nuwakot in the Region No 3 Cricket Selection tournament here today. Electing to bat first, Nuwakot was bowled out for 53 in 18.1 overs with Rom Shreshta scoring 19. Man of the match Bantu Bataju claimed four wickets while Kalam Ali took three and Paras Khadka two for Kathmandu. In reply, Kathmandu chased the target in 9.4 overs but not before losing two wickets. Paras Khadka scored unbeaten 24 runs. — HNS
Karate players feted
KATHMANDU: The Lainchaur branch of Nepal Shito Ryu Karate Association feted players who won medals in World Karate Challenge Trophy and Grand Demonstration held in Ahamdabad, on May 5-6. Nepal claimed five golds — Rina Rana Magar (50kg), Umita Basnet (55kg), Sangita Dangol ( 60kg), Rajan Kumar Paija (55kg) and Ras Kumar Rai (65kg); three silvers — Komal Bista (50kg), Dinesh MC (55kg) and Ram Kumar Tharu (open); and a bronze medal (Laxman Khadka). Nepal also bagged the best demonstation and referee awards. — HNS
