Casino Rad win
LALITPUR: Casino Rad and Nepal Recreation Centre played a 1-1 draw while Casino Anna beat Venus 2-0 in the third Inter-Casino Football Tournament at the FIFA Technical Centre on Saturday. Anil Neupane provided the lead for Rad in the 31st minute before NRC goalkeeper Deepak Lama scored from a free kick in the 74th minute. In the other match, Shyam Bahadur Shrestha scored both the goals for Anna. Shrestha struck in the first and 76th minute. — HNS
Indrayeni win
LALITPUR: Indrayeni Group defeated Kaumari Group 2-0 in the final of the Tamrakar Football Fete organised by Youth and Sports sub-committee of Tamrakar Society on Saturday. Raju Tamrakar scored both the goals of the match. All Nepal Football Association Vice President and Spokesperson Lalit Krishna Shretha and President of Tamrakar Society Achut Krishna Tamrakar gave away the prizes. — HNS

KATHMANDU: Nepal Rastra Bank is organising the Inter-Bank Volleyball Tournament from Sunday to mark its 54th anniversary. In all, 11 teams from 10 banks will compete in the tournament. — HNS
French duo pull out
BARCELONA: French hopes took a hit for next week's Barcelona Open as 2008 Roland Garros semi-finalist Gael Monfils and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga both withdrew with knee problems. Monfils lost in the Monte Carlo first round this week to Serb Janko Tipsarevic, complaining of tendinitis pain in both knees. Tsonga, last year’s Australian Open finalist, has not played since losing a Miami quarter-final to Novak Djokovic on April 1. — AFP
Ceremony cancelled
PARIS: The annual Laureus World Sports Awards ceremony has been cancelled for this year. Instead the winners will receive their trophies individually at a series of presentations during May and June. Edwin Moses, Chairman of the Laureus World Sports Academy, said: "This has been a very difficult decision, but we are painfully aware of the global problems caused by the current economic difficulties. — AFP
