TAC’s Bhandari, Chunara triumph

Tribhuvan Army Club’s Pratigya Bhandari and Gyani Chunara won gold medals in the eighth Korean Ambassador Open National Taekwondo Tournament here at the International Sports Complex today.

Bhandari won gold in the women’s 73kg event after she defeated her TAC teammate Mausam Karki in the final match. Nepal APF Club’s Apsara Karki and Karuna Shrestha of Sallaghari won bronze medals.

In 62kg final match, Chunara beat Shivani Shrestha of Lalitpur and claimed the gold, while TAC’s Mandira Karki and Anita Ghale of Dhading got bronze medals. Nepal Police Club’s Rejina Karki beat Barsha Thapa of APF in the 46kg event final. Sangita Shrestha of APF and Kusmani Chaudhary of TAC were joint third.

In 49kg event, TAC’s Kajal Shrestha saw off APF’s Ashmita Khadka, while TAC’s Kalpana Chaudhary and Binika Joshi won bronze medals. Likewise, Nima Gurung of NPC defeated Dikshya Karki of Lalitpur in 53kg section final, whereas TAC’s Muskan and Nuwakot’s Sabita Pudasaini won bronze medals.

In 57kg final, NPC’s Sita Tamang won gold after beating TAC’s Namrata Tuladhar, while TAC’s Reshma Thapa and APF’s Gita Bista were joint third. Also, Sangita Basyal claimed the 67kg section gold after beating her APF teammate Anumaya Tamang, while TAC’s Pujan Bista and Dipika Nagarkoti of Lalitpur claimed bronze medals.

In men’s 54kg semi-final, NPC’s Manoj Malla beat TAC’s Bikash Rai, while Chandra Rana Magar of APF beat Makawanpur’s Bibek Majhi. In 42kg, Bidhan Shrestha of Sitapaila and Shree Krishna Karki of Koteshwor entered the semi-finals, while Pujan Khadka of United and Dinesh Bahadur Saud of Koteshwor advanced to the 45kg section last four.

Likewise, Sahil Thapa Magar of Lalitpur and Shiva Shrestha of Dilip Memorial sailed in the last four in 48kg, while Suraj Sintan of Brainland and Kapil Thapa of Dilip Memorial entered the 59kg category final.
