YAMAHA FOOTBALL: No team is certain and safe

Kathmandu, January 19:

RCT performs to its level best when MPC is the opponent, while Jawalakhel is known as ‘draw king’ and NRT and Sankata do not care about the opponents and APF is equally capable of beating any team.

These mid-table teams of the running Martyrs’ Memorial ‘A’ Division League have potential to pull out upset result against the top for teams affecting their title hunt.

At the moment, NRT has become the dark horse and is developing into a giant killer. NRT Coach Raju Shakya claims that his boys are getting better every other day, while Sankata coach Sunil Tuladhar also has similar views regarding his club.

The last few days have given some unexpected results to the top teams. Machhindra FC defeated Manang, while Nabil Three Star shared points in their last two matches — against Sankata and NRT. These upset results has forced all the top four teams to beg thier opponent’s defeat against mid or bottom-tabled team.

The race has become more competitive and the competition between the players has also come to an interesting mode. Yamaha Motors India Pvt Ltd has announced a motorcycle each to the six best individuals — goalkeeper, defender, midfielder, striker, highest scorer and coach.

The players, who failed to perform better in the first leg, have a chance to win the spectators’ hearts, while others have felt the pressure to continue with their performance.

The league came to an interesting mode after the bottom teams started to perform well in the second leg. While the top teams are evenly poised for the title, the situation in the bottom is also more over the same. No one can predict the two teams to be relegated.

Bouddha, who started their campaign with a goalless draw against MPC, can pull out an upset result with any club, but are at the danger of being relegated as they have earned just seven points. Brigade Boys Club, Machhindra, Friends, Mahabir and Boys Union — who have earned 13 to 17 points — are trying their best to avoid relegation.
