Yi wins SIRC Charity Golf Cup

KATHMANDU: Wang Yi won the seventh SIRC Charity Golf Tournament organised by the Spinal Injury Rehabilitation Centre here at the Gokarna Golf Club today.

Played under stableford 3/4 handicap format, Yi accumulated 38 points and received the trophy, round trip to Pokhara for a couple, two packets of golf balls and Rs 2,000-worth John Players gift voucher. Tashi Ghale was second with 34 points. He won one night stay at Hyatt and Rs 2,000-worth John Players gift voucher. Dorji Tsering Sherpa won the best gross award with 29 points. Suhrid Ghimire bagged the most birdies award with three birdies.

Eu Hazur Thapa scored 27 points to win the ladies section trophy and received trophy, one dozen golf balls, Rs 2,000-worth John Players gift voucher, one night stay for a couple at Gokarna Forest Resort with treatment at Spa and Tranquillity vouchers. Mrs Yoo came second with 25 points.

Brig Gen Gunja Man Lama came

first in the senior section with 31 points, while Nirab Koirala won the junior section award. Tashi Tsering and Tashi Sherpa won the closest to the pin and longest drive awards at the Hole No 10 and 18 respectively. Tsering almost had a hole in one on the Hole No 10 where Continental Trading Enterprises Pvt Ltd had put KIA Picanto as a award. Karun Pradhan won the best sportsmanship award.

A total of 80 golfers including four ladies took part in the tournament, sponsored by Nepal Investment Bank Limited. Isha Thapa, director of SIRC, Prachanda Bahadur Shrestha, SIRC Board of Directors Member Prachanda Bahadur Shrestha and Suman Sachdev, Director of Gokarna Forest Resort, gave away prizes to the winners.
