Lucknow, January 15:

President APJ Abdul Kalam’s security cordon was broken by a young girl who gave him a written complaint against her village head, a trusted aide of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav. Before security personnel could remove her, Archana managed to hand over a one-page memorandum to the president yesterday, urging him to protect her family from the “high-handedness” of Vireshpal Singh Yadav of Rudahi village. The girl alleged that Yadav had forcibly grabbed her family’s land and built a primary school on it. She claimed their repeated pleas to various state authorities had been in vain because the village head enjoyed Mulayam Singh’s favour.
