Kathmandu, February 5

Any individual planning to enter the job market after completing his studies may soon have to pass the educational qualification accreditation test to be conducted by the Ministry of Education to be eligible for employment.

Currently, aspiring teachers are required to obtain teaching license before applying for permanent post of teachers. Similarly, doctors, nurses and advocates too have to obtain license before employment.

MoE is all set to bring provision of accrediting educational qualifications for employment in government services. At present, the ministry is preparing proposal on developing a national examination system for accreditation of educational qualification.

The School Sector Development Programme, to be implemented by MoE soon, had proposed accreditation of educational qualification.

Mukunda Mani Khanal, chief of Policy and Programme section at MoE, said it would be easier to test the aptitude of job seekers if the government was able to develop this system. “MoE to make the academic certificates more plausible across the globe by developing credible system for accreditation,” said Khanal.

He stated that the ministry was going to implement the provision only after consultation with other concerned bodies.

“At first, the accreditation will be mandatory to only those aspiring for government jobs. It will be gradually implemented in the private sector,” he said.
