Govt, NC hold talks with agitating Madhesi Front

KATHMANDU: Talks among the ruling coalition, main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) and United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) have started in Baluwatar, on Monday morning.

Earlier, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had called a tripartite meeting of ruling coalition, main opposition NC and agitating United Democratic Madhesis Front on Sunday to resolve the issues of boundaries of federal units and amend the Constitution.

Prime Minister Oli, senior leader duo Jhala Nath Khanal and Madhav Kumar Nepal, Vice-Chairman as well as Deputy Prime Minister Bhim Bahadur Rawal, General Secretary Ishwor Pokharel and leader Agni Prasad Kharel have represented the CPN-UML in the talks while UCPN-Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and his deputy Narayan Kaji Shrestha are present.

Likewise, top three leaders of NC - Sushil Koirala, Sher Bahadur Deuba and Ram Chandra Paudel - have represented the main opposition party.

DPM Bijay Kumar Gachhadar and Jitendra Dev from the Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum-Democratic, DPM Kamal Thapa and Dilnath Giri from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal and Deepak Bohora from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party are also present at the meeting.

Mahantha Thakur, Hridayesh Tripathi, Ashok Rai, Rajendra Shrestha, Laxman Lal Karna, Ram Naresh Raya and Lalbabu Rawat have represented the Madhesi Front.
