Swaraj to lead Indian delegation for ex-PM Koirala's funeral
KATHMANDU: External Affairs Minister of India Sushma Swaraj is arriving in Nepal today to pay homage to former Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala on behalf of the Indian government.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Kamal Thapa during the Cabinet meeting held this morning informed that the Indian minister is arriving to take part in the veteran leader's funeral.
Swaraj will lead an all-party delegation -- which includes Rajya Sabha member and Janata Dal United leader Sharad Yadav; deputy leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha and former Union Cabinet minister Anand Sharma, and Communist Party of India (Marxist)'s General Secretary Sitaram Yechury, according to the India's Ministry of External Affairs.
The Indian delegation will be accompanied by India's National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, according to Swaraj's tweet.

Meanwhile, the government has assigned Home Minister Shakti Basnet to prepare for Koirala's funeral procession and final rites. The former Prime Minister will be cremated with state honour at Pashupati Aryaghat tomorrow.
Koirala, who suffered from pneumonia, died of cardiac arrest in the wee hours of Tuesday. He was 76.
