Kathmandu, March 2

Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Sudan Kirati has said the services of the airports should be passenger-friendly.

Minister Kirati made this statement while addressing a joint meeting held today at the Tribhuvan International Airport with the officials of the civil aviation sector.

"Airports are the faces of the country, and its facilities should be passenger-friendly. Nepal's airports should become a model for airport management and a shining example among the airports of the world. However, why are they not easily accessible to the citizens? This is a serious question that needs to be addressed," Minister Kirati reminded the officials.

Minister Kirati expressed his concern regarding the lack of coordination among departments related to tourism, stating that passengers, especially foreign migrant workers, should not have to suffer as a result of this.

He emphasised the important contribution of migrant workers to the country's economy and said that their needs should not be overlooked.

Furthermore, he instructed the authorities to facilitate passengers who have to stand in long queues due to the lack of sufficient counters and make arrangements to assist disabled and elderly passengers in reaching the boarding gates.

While acknowledging that security should not be compromised, Minister Kirati stressed that passengers should not be mistreated in the name of security.
