KATHMANDU, JANUARY 1
The Bandipur Visit Year 2025 officially commenced today.
Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Devendra Dahal, inaugurated the tourism promotion campaign in the historic town of Bandipur, located in the Tanahu district.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by parliamentarians Bhagawati Neupane, Gandaki Province Assembly member Hari Bahadur Chuman, Ashok Kumar Shrestha, and other notable figures.
The hilltop settlement currently attracts approximately 100,000 tourists annually. The campaign aims to maintain this momentum by bringing in a similar number of visitors in 2025, according to Surendra Thapa, a local representative.
A two-day travel package has been designed to take visitors to notable sites, including Bandipur, Chhimkeshowri, Manakamana, Gorkha Mandir, Ligligkot, and the birthplace of Bhanu Bhakta.
Throughout the year, 24 cultural events, literary activities, and adventure programs will be organized, as shared by Baisha Gurung, coordinator of Bandipur Visit Year 2025.
The campaign also seeks to initiate research into Bandipur's tangible and intangible cultural heritage, with a focus on preservation while fostering local and international camaraderie, the organizers stated.
The local government has identified several key attractions, including Khagadevi Mandir, Thanimai Mandir, Mahalaxmi Mandir, Siddagupha (sacred cave), trekking and hiking trails, Thindhara, Tundikhel, waterfalls, Mani Mukundasen's palace, and Padam Library, as major tourism destinations.
Additional highlights of Bandipur include Thani Mai Temple, Bindhyabasini Mandir, Raniban, Ramkot, and Sunkhari.
The tribal villages, characterized by houses constructed in the Bhaktapure architectural style, add a unique charm to this picturesque hilltop town.
