The price of precious metals increased slightly in the trading week between July 24 and 29. In the domestic market, gold price rose by Rs 1,100 per tola, while silver price also went up by Rs 60 a tola during the week.

According to the rate list of Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers' Association (FeNeGoSiDA), gold price was fixed at Rs 94,500 per tola on Sunday.

Its price fell by Rs 100 a tola to be traded at Rs 98,400 per tola on Monday.

On Tuesday, gold price fell to Rs 94,200 a tola again and dropped further to Rs 94,000 per tola on Wednesday.

On Thursday, the price of precious yellow metal increased by Rs 800 a tola to Rs 94,800 per tola. The price of gold further increased to Rs 95,600 a tola on Friday.

Similarly, silver was traded at Rs 1,155 per tola on Sunday and remained unchanged on Monday. Its price fell by five rupees a tola to Rs 1,150 per tola on Tuesday. The price of grey metal increased by five rupees per tola to Rs 1,155 a tola on Wednesday.

It rose by Rs 30 per tola on Thursday to be traded at Rs 1,185 a tola and surged by Rs 35 per tola on Friday to settle at Rs 1,220 a tola for the week.

According to Reuters, gold rose more than one per cent on Thursday as a contraction in the US economy boosted its safe-haven allure and helped to extend gains driven by a less aggressive tone from the Federal Reserve chairman. Spot gold extended gains on the data, and was last up 1.1 per cent at $1,752.39 per ounce by 1:59pm EDT, helped along by a subsequent slide in US Treasury yields. US gold futures settled 1.8 per cent higher at $1,750.30.
