KATHMANDU, JULY 31
Intrepid Travel marked its first-ever 'Intrepid Day' on July 24, organizing events across 31 country offices to highlight its commitment to responsible, community-focused tourism.
The global initiative, designed to celebrate culture, connection, and community, saw pop-up activities in Melbourne, Toronto, London, and other locations, including Nepal, where the company's Destination Management Company (DMC) conducted heritage clean-up drives at Changunarayan Temple, a UNESCO heritage site, and planted over 200 trees in collaboration with a local forest group. The event in Nepal also included Sarangi performance, and explorationof Bhaktapur, another UNESCO heritage site, according to the company.
The campaign achieved a significant fundraising milestone, collecting AUD $50,000 in 24 hours and later reaching AUD $150,000 for The Intrepid Foundation, the company's non-profit arm. Funds will be distributed to more than 50 grassroots partners worldwide, including Nepal's Sagarmatha Next project, which addresses waste management in the Everest region, the company added.
Top contributing offices included Morocco, New Zealand, Ecuador, Sri Lanka, India, and Thailand, supporting various environmental and social initiatives. Over 500 donations were made globally, with an additional 139 contributions to the foundation's general fund.
