KATHMANDU: Ncell organised a public awareness programme on social engineering fraud done by misusing telecom services, internet and use of social networking sites, in Phidim, on Sunday. The programme held together with District Police Office, Panchthar, shed light on various types of fraud run by misusing telecom services, and shared information on how customers can save themselves from such deceptive actions. It also focused on how users can make good use of social media and avoid possible troubles created by miscreants. DSP Krishna Prasad Koirala of District Police Office, Panchthar, made a presentation on ‘Internet and Social Networking Awareness’. He briefed the participants on how to be safe on social media and also shed light on the provisions of existing cyber law. Fraud Intelligence Expert of Ncell Sachindra Pradhan made a presentation on ‘SIM and Telecom Fraud’. He suggested ways to remain safe from possible identity theft.
