KATHMANDU, JANUARY 29

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) once again surged past the 2,100 mark on Monday, marking a notable uptick in daily turnover to Rs 4.566 billion. Following a gain of 10.26 points on Monday, representing a 0.48% increase, the index settled at 2,104.72 points by the day's close. Notably, Sunday had witnessed a gain of 10.37 points.

In tandem with the benchmark index's rise, the sensitive index, which assesses the performance of class 'A' stocks, saw a 0.22% increase, while the float index, measuring actively traded shares, rose by 0.36%.

The market predominantly showed positive trends today, with only three sub-indices experiencing losses: the banking sub-index decreased by 0.06%, the Microfinance index by 0.05%, and the Non-Life index by 0.11%.

Conversely, renewed investor enthusiasm was evident in the hydropower sector, which surged by 1.08% today, leading the gainers' list alongside the Other Index, which rose by 1.64%.

The intra-day turnover spiked to Rs 4.566 billion, fueled by 12,322,705 units of shares traded across 311 companies, encompassing a total of 103,153 transactions. This contrasts with the previous day's turnover of Rs 3.833 billion.

Of the companies traded, 150 advanced, while 86 declined, and 11 remained unchanged. Notably, Union Hydropower Limited (UNHPL) led in terms of gains, with a notable 10% increase in share value, while Garima Debenture, 2085, faced the biggest loss, dropping by 10%.

Himalayan Reinsurance Limited (HRL) emerged as the top company in terms of turnover, volume, and transactions, with 900,511 units of shares traded amounting to Rs 601,671,809.20 across 23,457 transactions.

As of today, the total market capitalization stands at Rs 3.307 trillion.
