The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) reversed the previous day's rally on Wednesday, shedding more than 30 points as selling pressure dragged almost all sectors into negative territory, even as daily trading turnover climbed to nearly Rs 4.83 billion.

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) fell by 30.09 points, or 1.13 percent, on Wednesday, erasing Tuesday's gains to close at 2,621.59 points.

The decline came a day after the benchmark index had risen by 24.57 points. The sensitive index also dropped by 0.85 percent, while the float index declined by 1.13 percent.

Almost all sectoral indices ended in the red, with the exception of the mutual fund sub-index, which posted a marginal gain of 0.11 percent. The hydropower sector recorded the steepest decline, falling 1.70 percent.

Despite the market correction, investor activity remained strong. Daily turnover increased to Rs 4.83 billion from Rs 4.4 billion recorded on Tuesday. A total of 8.46 million shares of 362 listed companies changed hands through 77,627 transactions.

Market breadth remained overwhelmingly negative, with only 25 stocks advancing, while 247 declined and five remained unchanged.

Among individual stocks, Corporate Development Bank Limited suffered the biggest loss, dropping 13.41 percent. It was followed by Upakar Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited, which fell 10.69 percent.
