KATHMANDU, AUGUST 9
The 52nd meeting of the Investment Board of Nepal (IBN) held on Monday decided to hand over the responsibility of conducting a joint study on the 750 MW West Seti Storage Hydropower Project and 450 MW Seti River-6 Hydropower Project in Sudurpaschim Province to NHPC Ltd, government of India, for their further development.
The meeting was chaired by Prime Minister and Chairman of IBN Sher Bahadur Deuba, who approved the Indian government's intent to conduct the study and develop the two hydropower projects.
Similarly, the IBN board members directed the concerned authorities to move ahead with the required works for project development agreement (PDA) of the 679 MW Lower Arun Hydropower Project. The meeting also decided to provide a survey licence to Himtal Hydropower Company Pvt Ltd to conduct a study of 327 MW Upper Marsyangdi-2 (UM-2).
Likewise, decisions were made to start work on the implementation of the financial management of the 900 MW Upper Karnali Hydropower Project as per the decision by the Cabinet and organise 'Sustainable Infrastructure Investment Forum-2022' in the second week of September.
At the meeting, PM Deuba directed the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Forest and Environment, among other concerned entities, to work effectively in coordination and cooperation among one another. He also emphasised on adoption of technologies that minimise the negative impact on the environment and human health while developing cement industries.
