KATHMANDU, MAY 21
The export of tea from the Mechi Customs Office has increased by 46.10 percent in the first ten months of the current fiscal year.
According to the Office, tea worth Rs 3.68 billion was exported during this period, compared to Rs 2.52 billion in the same timeframe of the previous fiscal year 2080/81.
Information Officer Ishwar Kumar Humagain reported that 13,886.77 metric tons of tea were exported during the review period.
However, cardamom exports declined by 3.60 percent through the end of Baisakh (mid-May) in the current fiscal year. Cardamom worth Rs 6.66 billion was exported, down from Rs 6.90 billion in the same period last year.
Significant increases were also recorded in the export of other goods: veneer sheets rose by 79 percent, iron sheets by 7.70 percent, CR sheets by 62.20 percent, and molasses by a remarkable 844.30 percent.
In total, goods worth Rs 21.45 billion were exported through Mechi Customs during the ten-month period of the current fiscal year.
