KATHMANDU, AUGUST 10

Nepathya, the renowned folk-rock Nepali band, enthralled the Nepali audience in Tokyo with its popular numbers, as a part of its Japan tour, on Tuesday.

The show was staged at the 'Toyosu Pit' in Tokyo, where more than 3,000 people had turned up for the live concert, read a press statement issued by Nepalaya today.

The band kicked-off the much-awaited show with their hit song 'Koshi Ko Pani Yo Jindagani Sala Jai Jane Hau Hajur' before performing other hit songs.

From folk tune filled 'Chekyo Chekyo' to sentimental hit 'Yo Zindagani', the audience swayed and sang with Amrit Gurung, Nepathya vocalist.

"In these three decades of musical journey the band has also accumulated many experiences," band's lead singer and social activist Amrit Gurung said in between the musical performance.

Tokyo is special to our bandmembers as it incorporates different memories ranging from musical collaboration to strong bonding and parting in different ways of the members, Gurung shared.

Reminiscing the old memories, Amrit Gurung entertained the audience with their pioneer song 'Aagani vari heu ani jahre' to commemorate his old band members. Old pictures of the band's early days were displayed while the band performed the song.

Since last year, we have been collaborating with Manav Sewa Aashram for 'Music for Humanity' campaign and Japan tour is the continuation of it, Gurung added.

The band played a mix of old and new hits, much to the delight of the audience including 'Mai Nache Chamchami', 'Resham', 'Taal ko Pani,' among others.

By the time, the concert had reached its end, the Nepathya fans were singing and dancing along with Gurung--the concert concluded with the band performing 'Rato Ra Chandra Surya.

The show started at sharp 6:30 pm and lasted for 2 hours, with band performing 16 songs and two screened music videos.

Amrit was accompanied by Dhruba Lama on drums, Suraj Thapa on Keyboards, Subin Shakya on bass, Niraj Gurung on guitars and Shanti Rayamajhi on madal.

The band is scheduled to perform at the 'Fukuoka Civic Hall' in Fukuyama on August 12.
