Reaching out to a lost friend
I was in Class VIII when she joined our school. Chandani sat next to me. She was a quiet girl but friendly and in no time we became good friends.
We used to consult each other regarding our difficult lessons, share notes and
all the secrets in our hear. And I clearly remember
the day when she told me of the tragedy she had faced. She had lost her father, mother and younger brother in an accident.
Our friendship grew and time moved on. But the days were not always sunny. We were teenagers and used to get angry with each other over nothing and everything. And finally a day came when a misunderstanding crept up between Chandani and me and we stopped talking.
Our friends tried to help us make up, but it didn’t work. Later she changed schools.
It has been five years and I don’t know where she is or how she is. I wonder if she will recognise me if we ever met again or if she even remembers me. But I haven’t forgotten her and today I want to say, “I am sorry”.
