Parts of the Tarai could heat up to 37°C on Friday even as heavy rain is forecast in the hills, with the monsoon continuing to bring thunderstorms and rainfall across much of the country.

According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division, Bhairahawa and Simara are expected to record maximum temperatures of 35–37°C, while Dipayal, Nepalgunj and Biratnagar could reach 34–36°C.

Moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely at some places in the Himalayan and hilly regions, while parts of the Tarai in Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces are also expected to receive rain.

Heavy rain is likely at one or two places in the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, the division said.

The weather is expected to remain unsettled into Friday night, with moderate rain and thunderstorms likely at many places in the hills of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces. In Kathmandu, moderate rain with thundershowers is forecast both during the day and at night, with temperatures expected to range between 29–31°C and 20–22°C, respectively.

Pokhara is forecast to record 31–33°C during the day, with a 60 percent chance of rain, while Jomsom is expected to remain considerably cooler at 23–25°C.

The department said the country remains under the influence of the monsoon, with the monsoon low-pressure line currently around its normal position.
