Ambassador Paudyal presents letters of credence

Non-Resident Ambassador of Nepal to Democratic People’s Republic of Korea Leela Mani Paudyal today submitted his letters of credence to Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the Supreme People’s Assembly of DPRK.

Ambassador Paudyal, who is a resident Ambassador to China, presented the letters of credence amid a special ceremony organised at Munsudae Assembly Hall in Pyongyang, DPRK, according to a press statement issued by the Nepali Embassy in Beijing.

Nam congratulated Paudyal on being appointed non-resident ambassador to DPRK.

Recalling the long-standing friendly ties between DPRK and Nepal, President Nam urged Nepal to play a more important role in revitalising the Non-Aligned Movement, the press release stated.

Furthermore, he also briefed Nepali envoy Paudyal on the current situation in the Korean peninsula and requested Nepal to fairly understand the situation and support DPRK in finding an objective solution to the problem.

During the meeting, Nam placed his request to convey his best wishes to President Bidhya Devi Bhandari for her good health and happiness as well as for the political and social stability and economic development of Nepal.

Paudyal also conveyed President Bhandari’s best wishes for Nam’s good health and happiness as well as peace and continued progress of DPRK. He stressed on continuous cooperation between the two countries that share common concerns and worries.

Following the meeting, Ambassador Paudyal also held a meeting with Minister for Foreign Affairs of the DPRK Ri Yong Ho, North Korean Vice-Minister for Public Health, Kim Hyong Hun in their respective offices yesterday.
