KATHMANDU: Counterfeit Indian currency worth 76.8 million has been confiscated from a group arriving at Tribhuvan International Airport from Qatar, Friday afternoon.

Police have arrested two Nepali nationals and three Pakistani nationals who arrived at TIA from Qatar in possession of the counterfeit notes.

According to security personnel at the airport, police arrested the three along with Yunus Ansari and his group members, who had gone to the airport to receive them.

This is not the first time Ansari has been arrested on account of carrying fake currency. Earlier, in 2010, Kathmandu District Court had sent him and three others accused to jail for their involvement in fake Indian currency racket and drug peddling.

They were arrested on January 2010 and prosecuted under Narcotics Drugs (Control) Act and Anti-Fake Currency Act.
