Czech climber dies
KATHMANDU: A mountaineer from the Czech Republic, who was part of a Norwegian expedition team, died on Mt Lhotse on Wednesday, a mountaineering source said on Thursday. However, the mountaineering department under the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation said it was yet to receive details of the death. — HNS
Appeal to NBA
Kathmandu: The Lalitpur Appellate Court Bar Association, issuing a statement on Thursday, urged the Nepal Bar Association to initiate action against those people who were appointed by the royal regime as judges. The association also urged the NBA to urge the Judicial Council to reinstate district judge Chitra Dev Joshi, who was dismissed after delivering a speech in which he had expressed his commitment to uphold the rule of law. — HNS
Moriarty meets Nepal
Kathmandu: US Ambassador to Nepal, James F Moriarty called general secretary of the CPN-UML general secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal, at his party office on Thursday. During the meeting, they discussed consolidation of the reinstated democratic system in Nepal and establishment of durable peace. — RSS
