Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba today asked the police organisation to be technologically advanced so as to tackle the problems of the modern day at a function held at Naxal-based Nepal Police Headquarters on the occasion of the 67th Police Day.

Addressing police officers, he said the police could get the expected results only by use of advanced information technology and other advanced devices and scientific methods as per the need of the rapidly changing times. Further-more, he said the government was committed to transforming the Nepal Police Force with more modern equipment as well as providing professional devices, resources, and technology in the future.

He also asked police personnel to perform their dutiesin a fully professional manner.

"Peace and security inside the country can be possible only if the police conduct their duties with complete honesty. I ask all police officers to show their dutifulness and professionalism and act in compliance with the rule of law without the burden of being pressurised from anyone," Deuba said. Deuba also promised toencourage more participation of Nepal Police in the United Nations' peacekeeping mission in foreign countries.

Similarly, speaking at the function, Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand applauded the work of po-plauded the work of police in maintaining peace and security in the country in the course of safeguarding the constitution and imposing the rule of law in the country.

Minister Khand also praised police work in various rescuemissions.

Police Chief IGP Dhiraj Pratap Singh said he would focus on motivating Nepal Police personnel and increasing other facilities to them.

Many police personnel were granted different awards for showcasing their excellency in the line of duty at the function. Similarly, AIG Rajendra Bahadur Singh was awarded with police's life time achievement award by PM Deuba at the function.
