KATHMANDU: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has directed concerned parties to prepare capable, committed and ideal administrators for the country.

Speaking at a programme organised to mark the 68th anniversary of Public Service Commission (PSC) here in the capital, President Bhandari suggested introduction of programmes to enhance skills through training and by adopting modern technology in work execution.

The President further expressed confidence that the Commission would assimilate issues related to stability, permanent peace and economic prosperity. She advised the Commission to not forget the principles of neutrality, transparency, and quality while providing services, opining that no sides should undermine the image, importance and dignity of PSC.

Similarly, Commission Chair Umesh Prasad Mainali was quoted as saying in Rastriya Samachar Samiti that PSC was the centre of hope for educated youths as it was the first constitutional body of the nation. He also stressed on developing the online system for its activities. Mainali further said that employees' enrollment process should be scientific so that only excellent aspirants would be selected to serve the nation.

Commission member Shree Purush Dhakal shared that PSC was launching its activities following neutrality, impartiality and capability. Likewise, Secretary at the Commission Mahendra Prasad Guragain said that PSC was preparing a three-year strategic plan prioritising the use of new technology to make its work effective and scientific.

On the occasion, President Bhandari feted employees with 'excellent work execution' awards.

The Commission, which was established on June 15, 1951, is a constitutional body involved in selecting meritorious candidates required by Government of Nepal for civil service vacancy.
