RPP responds to RPP-Nepal's Thapa, expresses committment to unification
KATHMANDU: A few hours after the Rastriya Prajantantra Party-Nepal Chairman Kamal Thapa announced that the chapter of unification of two parties was closed, Rastriya Prajantantra Party said it was committed to unification.
Issuing a statement in response to Thapa's public statements, RPP Co-Spokesperson Kiran Giri said RPP Chairman Pashupati Shamsher Rana has already made it clear that the RPP was committed to the party unification.
"...Rastriya Prajatantra Party is open and committed to unification with Rastriya Prajantantra Party-Nepal by forging agreement on the content of the interim statute [of unified party]," the statement, which was issued as per Rana's instruction.
Organising a press conference in Kathmandu earlier today, RPP-Nepal Chairman Thapa had accused Rana of being dishonest and thwarting unification of the two parties political dishonesty being influenced by unseen foreign power.
The two parties were scheduled to merge today.
But RPP Chairman Pashupati Shamsher Rana issued a statement yesterday, saying the unification would not happen unless the interim statute of unified party was amended. The RPP then sent two of its lawmakers in the Cabinet.
The RPP-Nepal, on the other hand, has stayed in the the opposition in the Parliament.
