KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court on Monday issued a show cause notice to Commissioner of the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority Sabitri Thapa Gurung for not resigning from the post of reader at Ratna Rajya Laxmi Campus.

A single bench of Justice Gopal Parajuli handed down the show cause notice asking Gurung to furnish her response within 15 days.

The decision comes in response to a writ petition filed by advocate Ramesh Kafley on behalf of Bir Prasad Shrestha on December 31, arguing that it was against the constitutional and legal provisions to hold two government posts simultaneously.

Gurung continues to work as a reader at the campus, claims the writ petition.
