KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 29

St. Xavier's College, a Jesuit educational institution, reflecting the college's commitment to fostering an inclusive environment, felicitated its alumni with visual disabilities during the MediaTalk series-xxx.

During this special series, Fr. Dr. Augustine Thomas, S.J., the principal, extended warm felicitations to Sabitri Paudel, a former batch-topper now serving at the High Court Patan and Sonu Gnawali, a dedicated peace volunteer. Alumni, Sanjiya Shrestha and Abhishek Shahi, founding members of the Chain for Change, were also honored, according to the statement issued by the St. Xavier College.

With this sincere gesture, the series-xxx, themed "Hand in Hand for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities," was organized in commemoration of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. Distinguished speakers Pratima Gurung, an Academic Activist & GEDSI Expert, and Nir Bahadur Shrestha, a Youth and Disability Rights Advocate, graced the occasion and shared their insights at the event, the college said.

"Life is precious, and when everyone in the world gets to live life happily, it becomes a meaningful pursuit. As we observe the International Day of Persons with Disabilities at St. Xavier's College, it not only reminds us of our role in safeguarding the rights of persons with disabilities but also pledges our advocacy for the same," said Fr. Augustine Thomas S.J.

Chun Bahadur Gurung, the Faculty Lead of Journalism and Coordinator of the MediaTalk series stated that the MediaTalk is a student-led dialogue series providing them with hands-on learning opportunities.

Fr. Dr. Boby Joseph, S.J., the Director of Loyola Campus, extended tokens of love and letters of appreciation to the guest speakers.
