Police have arrested two individuals on charges of defrauding over Rs 110.6 million from 38 people by promising lucrative foreign employment opportunities in the United Kingdom.
The arrested have been identified as Laxman Parajuli (44), of Ratuwamai Municipality-10, Morang (currently residing in Saraswati Nagar, Kathmandu-6), and Arun Raj Sharma (47), of Sabela Municipality-12, Dhanusha (currently residing in Narephant, Kathmandu-32).
Acting on a complaint filed by Mahesh Limbu at the Department of Foreign Employment (DoFE), a team from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office arrested the duo from Narephant on Sunday.
According to police, the suspects had allegedly collected a total of Rs 110,697,000 from 38 individuals by falsely assuring them of job placements in the UK.
They have been handed over to the DoFE, Tahachal, for further investigation and legal proceedings.
