UCPN-M decides to field Nanda Kishor Pun for VP election, support Bhandari for presidency
KATHMANDU: The ruling coalition partner UCPN-Maoist has decided to field party leader Nanda Kishor Pun as its candidate in the Vice-President's election scheduled for Wednesday.
Likewise, the party has decided to back CPN-UML candidate Bidya Devi Bhandari for the post of President if all bids for consensus for the post failed.
The party's Standing Committee meeting held this afternoon made the decisions, party spokesperson Dinanath Sharma told the Rastriya Samachar Samiti.
"If moved forward with majority voting, we have to vote for the UML candidate,' Sharma said after the meeting, "We are committed for that."
The meeting, however, has stressed on the need of consensus for elections to the both positions, according to the RSS.
