DHANGADI, AUGUST 28

Kanchanpur district has been witnessing rising incidents of dengue and malaria infections. Hospitals in the district have been reporting a rise in cases of fever, dengue, and malaria.

According to the District Health Office Kanchanpur, four persons were diagnosed with dengue and six with malaria in the past one month. Of late, the number of viral and common cold patients has also increased at Mahakali Provincial Hospital.

"Some patients have been detected with dengue and malaria," said medical superintendent Dr Arjun Bhatta of Mahakali Hospital.

Nine persons were detected with dengue till last week at Mahakali Provincial Hospital.

Dengue is a viral infection transmitted to humans through the bite of infected mosquitoes. The primary vectors that transmit the disease are Aedes aegypti mosquitoes and, to a lesser extent, Ae. albopictus.

The virus responsible for causing dengue is called dengue virus.
