As the second wave of coronavirus surges across the country, people violating health safety protocols and walking around without wearing face masks today faced action in Bara.

Police have started acting against People of Nijgadh, Kohlbi, and Jitpursimara, among other places, who did not wear masks and maintain social distancing .

SP Gautam Mishra said that police took 969 people under control and fined each of them, Rs 100 for not wearing masks. Police have collected Rs 96,900 in revenues from the campaign.

SP Mishra said that Bara police also distributed masks to more than 7,000 people in the bazaar areas.

Similarly, police took more than 10,000 people under control and released them after counselling.

Bara District Administration Office had directed the police to take action against those who did not wear face mask and maintain social distancing.

The local administration is strictly enforcing regulations issued by the central government. According to the DAO, police were directed to take people who did not follow the basic health criteria issued by the government under control.

CDO Surendra Poudel said that action would be taken as per the directive.

He said that the local administration had directed stern action against people and private and non-government offices if they violated the directive.

As many as 111 people have tested positive for coronavirus and two have died due to the infection till date after the second wave of virus spread.
