KATHMANDU, AUGUST 20

Nepal's coronavirus caseload reached 744,307 on Friday with 2,079 more people testing positive for the infection in the past 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the total coronavirus recoveries stand at 693,543 with 2,244 discharges logged today.

On the other hand, the countrywide Covid-19 mortality toll increased to 10,455 with 26 more fatalities.

As per the latest data provided by the health ministry, 17,654 total tests were conducted in the last 24 hours of which 10,530 were PCR tests while 7,124 were antigen tests. With this, a total of 3,813,545 PCR tests have been carried out till date.

Similarly, antigen tests have confirmed 963 positive cases in the past 24 hours. The total number of single-day infections from both the RT-PCR and antigen tests amount to 3,042.

Nepal's Covid-19 recovery rate stands at 93.1%, while the fatality rate stands at 1.5%. The country's active Covid-19 case count currently is 40,309.

So far, a total of 8,706,701 people has received coronavirus vaccine across the country, of which 4,907,523 have received the first dose while only 3,799,178 individuals have been inoculated with both the doses and are fully vaccinated.

Currently, there are 446 individuals in various quarantine facilities across Nepal.

In the same time frame, 604 infections were reported in the capital city while Lalitpur and Bhaktapur reported 187 and 107 cases respectively.

On Thursday, Nepal's coronavirus caseload had reached 742,228 with 2,321 people testing positive for the infection.

Globally, over 210 million people have been infected by the novel coronavirus while 4.4 million people have lost their lives to the disease.

Likewise, over 188 million people have recovered while more than 17 million cases are still active.
