KATHMANDU, AUGUST 19

Nepal's coronavirus caseload reached 742,228 on Thursday with 2,321 more people testing positive for the infection in the past 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the total coronavirus recoveries stand at 691,299 with 2,126 discharges logged today.

On the other hand, the countrywide Covid-19 mortality toll increased to 10,429 with 33 more fatalities.

As per the latest data provided by the health ministry, 16,438 total tests were conducted in the last 24 hours of which 11,946 were PCR tests while 4,492 were antigen tests. With this, a total of 3,803,015 PCR tests have been carried out till date.

Similarly, antigen tests have confirmed 754 positive cases in the past 24 hours. The total number of single-day infections from both the RT-PCR and antigen tests amount to 3,075.

Nepal's Covid-19 recovery rate stands at 93.1%, while the fatality rate stands at 1.5%. The country's active Covid-19 case count currently is 40,500.

So far, a total of 8,435,662 people has received coronavirus vaccine across the country, of which 4,817,985 have received the first dose while only 3,708,688 individuals have been inoculated with both the doses and are fully vaccinated.

Currently, there are 385 individuals in various quarantine facilities across Nepal.

In the same time frame, 639 infections were reported in the capital city while Lalitpur and Bhaktapur reported 127 and 101 cases respectively.

On Wednesday, Nepal's coronavirus caseload had reached 739,907 with 2,613 more people testing positive for the infection.

Globally, over 210 million people have been infected by the novel coronavirus while 4.4 million people have lost their lives to the disease.

Likewise, over 188 million people have recovered while more than 17 million cases are still active.
