KATHMANDU, JUNE 11

Nepal's coronavirus caseload reached 604,396 on Friday with 2,709 more people testing positive for the infection.

Meanwhile, the total number of recoveries stood at 520,816 with 5,225 discharges recorded today.

In the past 24 hours, 67 more Covid-related fatalities were logged which took the total death toll to 8,305.

As per the latest data provided by the health ministry, 15,182 total tests were conducted in the last 24 hours of which 9,598 were PCR tests while 5,584 were antigen tests. With this, a total of 3,198,702 PCR tests have been carried out in Nepal till date.

Meanwhile, antigen tests have confirmed 1,041 positive cases in the past 24 hours. The total number of single-day infections from both the RT-PCR and antigen tests add up to 3,750.

Nepal's Covid-19 recovery rate climbed to 86.2 % on Friday, as compared to 85.7 % on Thursday. On the other hand the fatality rate stands at 1.6 %.

The country's active Covid-19 case count has dropped to 75,275 with daily recoveries exceeding daily infections.

In the same time frame, 921 infections were reported in the capital city while Lalitpur and Bhaktapur reported 163 and 56 cases respectively.

There are 594 individuals in various quarantine facilities across Nepal.

So far, a total of 3,029,293 people have received coronavirus vaccine across the country, of which 2,337,799 have received the first dose while only 691,494 individuals have been inoculated with both the doses and are fully vaccinated.

On Thursday, Nepal's coronavirus case count reached 601,687 with 2,874 more people testing positive for the infection.

Globally, over 175 million people have been infected by the novel coronavirus while 3.7 million people have lost their lives to the disease.

Likewise, over 159 million people have recovered while more than 12 million cases are still active.
