Baglung NEA office padlocked
Baglung, February 11:
Locals protesting irregular power cuts padlocked Nepal Electricity Authority’s office in Baglung
today. Baglung is currently facing up to 20 hours of daily load-shedding.
Irate locals padlocked the office at 1pm after taking the staffers out of the office. They also padlocked the sub-station located in Baglung Municipality-1.
Similarly, a protest rally was organised by local entrepreneurs in the district headquarters today. They padlocked the FNCCI office, accusing it of not playing any active role in reducing load-shedding hours, which has been badly affecting the local entrepreneurs.
The locals said they would continue the lockout at NEA until load-shedding hours were reduced.
Meanwhile, the District branch of NEA informed that the disturbance in the electricity transmission was due to a malfunction in a transmitter located in Baglung-11. According to the office, it would take one-and-a-half month to fix the problem. Due to the load-shedding, FM radios operating here have reduced their broadcasting time by three hours. It has also affected the students preparing for SLC examinations.
