KATHMANDU, MAY 10

The team of Bahrain Royal Guard, including prince Sh. Mohammed Hamad Mohammed Al Khalifa, successful climbed Mt Everest early morning.

According to Mingma Sherpa, Chairman at Seven Summit Treks, the team members of the royal Expedition stood atop the world's highest peak between 5:30 - 6:45 Am ( Nepal Time ).

This is the first international team to conquer the new altitude (8848.86m) of Mt Everest, said Mira Acharya, Director at the Department of Tourism.

According to Sherpa, the team arrived in Kathmandu on 15 March 2021 to begin its climbing activities in the Everest region.

Climbing leader Tashi Lakpa Sherpa, who is the youngest person to climb Everest without oxygen support in 2013, informed that the team members are now descending from the top. They are the first Bahrain nationals to stand atop Mt Everest, he added.

The Bahrain Everest team was formed by Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, to train in the Himalayas in Nepal and to climb the world's highest peak.

The team had successfully climbed Lobuche peak and Mt Manaslu in October 2020, Seven Summit Treks, which organized the royal Expedition, shared.

According to DoT Director Mira Acharya who is now at base camp, more climbers are on their way to the top of Everest as they found a clear weather window this morning.
