Three persons have registered their candidacies for the post of Nepali Congress' Bagmati president. Makawanpur's Indra Bahadur Baniya, Nuwakot's Jagadishnarsingh KC, and Kathmandu's Bhimsen Das Pradhan have thrown their hats in the ring.

Baniya is close to Sher Bahadur Deuba. KC is from the faction led by Ram Chandra Poudel while Pradhan represents Krishna Prasad Sitaula faction.

The province convention will elect 91 members, including one president, two vice-presidents, two general secretaries, and three co-general secretaries with one female. Of them, eight office bearers and 48 members will be elected from under open category while 35 members will be elected from inclusive category.

As many as 21,037 representatives from 13 districts are taking part in the province convention. The voting will take place on Saturday to elect the province leadership.

Meanwhile, former Minister Bir Bahadur Balayar and Narayandatta Mishra are vying for the post of Nepali Congress' Sudurpaschim Province President from the party's first province convention.
