Development projects bring happiness to Damauliya denizens

Dhangadi, June 26

With the restructuring of local levels in the year 2017, Damauliya village was merged with Ward No 17 of Dhangadi Sub-metropolis of Kailali.

For years, the village was almost isolated as it was surrounded by the Shivaganga River. However, development works carried out by the sub-metropolis in the village have elated locals.

The village has been connected with roads and every household has access to electricity.  “Earlier, the village was almost cut off from the rest of the district, but after the merger, the village has changed its face,” said a local, Sihilal Chaudhary.

The village, which is 17 kilometres away from Dhangadi, has majority Tharu population. Almost a year ago, it did not even have gravel roads and electricity was beyond the villagers’ imagination. But now, the villagers can enjoy facilities such as transportation, electricity and health service.

Dipika Chaudhary, another local, said the villagers did not have to face difficulties. Chaudhary also said people’s representatives had helped expedite development projects in the village. “Before the local level elections, our voice had not been heard by the authorities concerned, but now our problems have been solved by the local representatives,” she said. Chaudhary also said now the village had almost all basic facilities.

Dhangadi sub-metropolis Mayor Nripa Bahadur Odd said the sub-metropolis had been working hard for the development of Damauliya.
