Diktat not to employ children at Bhaktapur brick kilns
BHAKTAPUR: The Bhaktapur Chief District Officer and District Child Welfare Board Chair Tej Prasad Paudel today directed the brick kiln entrepreneurs not to employ children in the factories.
The entrepreneurs would face action as mentioned in the law if children were found working as brick kiln workers, warned Paudel, while speaking in a discussion organised between the District Child Welfare Board and entrepreneurs today.
Paudel further directed the entrepreneurs not to let the children enter in the brick kilns if they do not have their parents along with.
He further expressed his commitment to provide separate and proper protection to the orphan child workers who work in such factories.
Similarly, President of Bhaktapur Brick Kiln Entrepreneurs Association Nati Bhai Hyomba drew the attention of authorities towards the need of closing the pubs inside such factories.
"We are ready to help the children in their studies and have no intention to make them work as workers," he added.
Likewise, Nila Kumari Ghimire, Women Development Officer, requested the authorities to prevent lactating mothers from carrying the heavy loads.
