Discussion held on upgradation of Dhangadhi-Shaune road

DHANGADHI: Stakeholders held a discussion on upgradation of Dhangadhi-Shaune road section under Dhangadhi-Shaune-Bipinnagar-Gadsera-Dipayal fast track at Province 7 Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers, today.

CM Trilochan Bhatta, Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City Mayor Nripa Bahadur Wod, and representatives from Godavari Municipality were present in the meeting.

Locals had urged the provincial chief minister and municipality to carry out maintenance of the road section as it was very difficult to operate vehicles on the damaged road.

CM Bhatta said, "The road section will be developed in a fast-track concept, so for time being, immediate repair work would be carried out to resolve the issue."

He urged Dhangadhi Sub Metropolis and Godavari Municipality to extend support for completion of the project as locals have been pressuring the local government for the same.

"Provincial government is ready to support the project," Bhatta shared.

Dhangadhi Sub Metropolis Mayor Nripa Bahadur Wod said, "Agreement has been forged to send a team to carry out field survey within a few days."

"It would be hard to allocate huge fund for the project as Municipal Council meeting has already been conducted but funds can be managed from all local levels to solve the issue for the time being," Wod shared.

At least Rs 150 million would be required to blacktop the road section, according to Wod.

After the completion of this fast track, distance between hilly districts and Tarai districts would come down to 82 kilometres, shorter by 110 kilometres.

Meanwhile, Kailali--Dipayal road stretches 192 kilometres.
